Wings & Wheels @ Urbana Ohio August 22-23 2015
On August 22, 2015 jerry Ellis and I brought our Salsbury Scooters to Wings N Wheels fly-in at Grimes Field in Urbana, Oh. There were over 50 classic cars and hot rods, as well as a number of interesting aircraft rating from WW2 warbirds to experimental homebuilt Aircraft. In the midst of such richness of mechanization and beautiful paint were two Salsburys. One was in show-winning condition and the other a bare metal hulk. Amazingly enough, the announcer for the whole event came over to us and proceeded to interview us "on-air" asking all sorts of questions concerning age, numbers produced, who designed and built ti, etc. Jerry and I took turns filling the crowd in on our wonderful little scooters and its origins. With so many beautiful aircraft and cars on display, I couldn't believe the attention we were getting.

Vintage Motorbike Club of America (VMBC) National Meet, Portland Indiana
AmeriSalsbury, New Rochelle NY
The first East Coast Salsbury meet was held in conjunction with Tom and Anna Giordano's annual Bagel Brunch and Odd Scoot Classic. It was a fantastic get together and we ended up with 4 Model 85's and Tom's home built Salsbury powered tri-car racer on display. In attendance was Scott Doering's original, running Model 85, which was purchased from club member, Ray Steelman. This scooter was available for riding and many attendees got a chance to ride it. Tom Giordano's newly restored Black Model 85 made it's public debut. He also had a red project bike and the Tri-Car on display.
We had one club member drive down from NH to sell a project Model 85. It was previously owned by club member Bing Hawes. Apparently Bing had started restoration many years ago and lost momentum. It ended up sitting in his barn for many years and after his passing his daughter decided to sell it. This scooter now belongs to Jay Holdash. |
